When it comes to hands-on type work I’m normally not your guy. I’ve always admired people who are able to construct things. Building site workers, in particular, fascinate me. They use all the different tools, screws and nails to put items together. I get overwhelmed at the thought of everything involved. I think it clutters up my brain because I’m constantly thinking of the next step when I should be focused on the one at hand. Also, the fear of harming myself or others is always in the back of my mind.
We got a chest of drawers for my nephew and since he’s only a few weeks old we had to put it together. I was nervous but it was something I needed to overcome. Knowing the satisfaction of seeing it completed and seeing my nephew’s clothes go into the drawers made it worthwhile. We used Eilish’s brother Josie’s toolbox and over a three day period we DIOd (did it ourselves)…
