The beauty of West Cork is something that is known to a lot of people. Schull is a place that stands out. It’s such a picturesque village and is a great place to hold a film festival. In it’s tenth year the Fastnet Film Festival has screened so many films. It is such a unique festival in that it renames many of the buildings in town as cinema venues. It’s tag line is Our Village is our Screen. The buzz around the village is immense as well and there are a few pubs and restaurants on the main street that become jam packed.
Eilish and I had taken a day trip down two years ago for the festival. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we said we’d come back and stay a night. There were definitely a few pubs and restaurants we still wanted to try. We decided to camp out for the night at Summerfield Camping. Once we got the tent set up (thanks to Eilish, no thanks to me) we went down to watch a series of short films in the Satellite Centre (known the rest of the year as the Old Boys School). When we came out we wanted to get something to eat. We ran into a friend of mine John Ryan Howard and he highly recommended The New Haven. It was time to say yes to a new restaurant…
